Sulphur Black 1 chemical properties:

• Sulphur Black 1 is a black powder, insoluble in water and ethanol.
• Sulphur Black 1 is dark green when dissolved in sodium sulfide solution;
• Sulphur Black 1 is greenish black precipitate in hydrochloric acid;
• Sulphur Black 1 is blue in sodium hydroxide solution;
• Sulphur Black 1 dissolves slightly when it is cold in concentrated sulfuric acid. It will become darker with a greenish blue precipitate when heated. Continue heating to turn into a black-blue precipitate. After dilution, it will produce a greenish blue precipitate.
• The dyed material is yellowish olive in the alkaline sodium hydroxide solution, and can restore the original color after oxidation; it will all fade in the sodium hypochlorite solution.
