Effect of Fillers on Properties of Powder Coatings

2021-07-10

Filler is a very important component in powder coatings, which is also called physical pigment. It is a kind of material with low coloring power and covering power. It is superfine, or a white powder granular coating. This kind of pigment is mixed in electrostatic powder coating, which is generally used to improve the strength and protective performance of powder coating. But as a filler also needs to have some conditions. The filling conditions are as follows:

1) Fillers are insoluble in water or some organic solvents. Generally, fillers are materials with good dispersion and will not contain any impurities.
2) As a filler is required to be able to resist acid and alkali, such filler mixed in powder coatings can better enhance the performance of powder coatings.
3) Filler is a kind of coating with low cost. There are many kinds of filler, such as barium sulfate, barite powder, calcium carbonate, talc powder, mica powder, quartz powder and so on, which are often used in powder coatings.
4) Different fillers have different performance advantages, which can help improve the performance of powder coatings and make powder coatings play a better role.
