Is the efflorescence of mortar related to
HPMC
The phenomenon of efflorescence is: ordinary concrete is silicate. When it encounters air or water vapor in the wall, the silicate ion will hydrolyze, and the generated hydroxyl radical will combine with metal ions to form hydroxide with low solubility (the chemical property is alkaline). When the temperature rises, water vapor will evaporate and the hydroxide will be separated out from the wall. With the gradual evaporation of water, the hydroxide will be released It is separated from the surface of concrete and cement. Over time, the original decorative coating or paint is lifted up and no longer adheres to the wall. This process is called "efflorescence". Therefore, it is not the efflorescence caused by HPMC.
The customer said a phenomenon: his shotcreting is that there will be efflorescence on the concrete wall surface, but there will be no efflorescence on the fired brick wall surface, which indicates that the content of silicate (strong alkali salt) in the cement used on the concrete wall surface is too much. Efflorescence caused by evaporation of water used in shotcreting. On the other hand, if there is no silicate on the surface of fired brick, efflorescence will not occur. Therefore, the appearance of efflorescence has nothing to do with shotcreting.
Terms of settlement
1) The silicate content of cement in base concrete decreased.
2) Using the anti alkali back coating agent, the solution seeps into the stone to block the capillary, so that water, salt and other substances can not invade, cutting off the way of efflorescence phenomenon.
3) Prevent the invasion of water and do not spray a lot of water before construction.
