French process zinc oxide is white hexagonal crystal or powder. It is a odorless, non-toxic, and delicate white powder.

The relative density of French process zinc oxide is 5.606. The refractive index is 2.008-2.029. The melting point is 1975°C.

French process zinc oxide is soluble in acid, sodium hydroxide and ammonium chloride, but French zinc oxide is insoluble in water, ethanol and ammonia.

French process zinc oxide is an amphoteric oxide. It absorbs carbon dioxide and water in the air to produce zinc carbonate, which is yellow. It turns yellow when heated, and returns to white when cooled. It does not transmit ultraviolet rays, and does not change to black when exposed to hydrogen sulfide.

Uses of French zinc oxide:

French process zinc oxide is used as a white pigment in printing and dyeing, papermaking, matches and pharmaceutical industries.

In the rubber industry, it is used as a vulcanizing active agent, reinforcing agent and coloring agent for natural rubber, synthetic rubber and latex.

It is also used in the manufacture of pigment zinc chrome yellow, zinc acetate, zinc carbonate, zinc chloride, etc.

French process zinc oxide is used in the manufacture of electronic laser materials, phosphors, feed additives, catalysts, and magnetic materials.

 

Preparation method of Frenchprocesszinc oxide:

The zinc ingot is heated to 1000°C, melted and vaporized, and hot air is introduced for oxidation to generate zinc oxide, which is cooled and separated by a cyclone, and fine particles are collected in a cloth bag. The finished product of zinc oxide is obtained.
