Direct red 23 chemical properties:

• Direct red 23 is purple-red powder.
• Direct red 23 is moderately water-soluble and bright red when soluble in water. Its aqueous solution adds dilute sulfuric acid to turn light blue. Adding concentrated hydrochloric acid produces a wine-red precipitate. Adding concentrated alkali turns red to orange brown.
• Direct red 23 is slightly soluble in ethanol and orange in color, but insoluble in acetone.
• Direct red 23 is bright red to magenta in concentrated Chemicalbook sulfuric acid, and turns brownish orange after dilution;
• Direct red 23 produces orange-yellow precipitation in concentrated nitric acid; it is insoluble in concentrated lye; it is bright red when dissolved in concentrated ammonia.
