The effects and mechanisms of ZnO for feed on the intestinal health of weaned piglets are as follows:

1) The effect of ZnO for feed on the intestinal morphology of weaned piglets

Early weaning causes a decrease in the height of the piglet's intestinal villi, an increase in the depth of the crypt, and a decrease in the number of mature cells on the intestinal villi, resulting in a reduction in the area of digestion and absorption of nutrients in the feed in the piglet's intestine, causing functional diarrhea in the piglet. Adding ZnO to the diet can alleviate these symptoms, thereby improving the intestinal environment and reducing diarrhea.

2) The effect of ZnO for feed on the permeability of intestinal epithelial cells of weaned piglets

The permeability of the intestinal mucosa after early weaning of piglets is increased, which is likely to cause diarrhea and systemic diseases in piglets. Adding ZnO to the diet can enhance the expression of tight junction proteins between epithelial cells, reduce the permeability of the intestinal mucosa, and achieve the purpose of protecting the intestinal barrier;
